Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any volunteering opportunities?
Soil Generation is not currently seeking or coordinating volunteers for any of our work. For anyone looking to volunteer land work at a garden space, please check out these amazing garden spaces and organizations who do, like Resilient Roots, Land Based Jawns, Sankofa Farm, and Iglesias Garden. For more information on active Black and Brown garden spaces, see: ONGOING SOLIDARITY.
Are you accepting speaking inquiries for educational purposes such as high schools or college courses?
At the moment, we are considering these opportunities on a case-by-case basis and are prioritizing opportunities from our existing relationships and from people of color, especially those who are local to Philadelphia.
Is there an SG garden I can visit?
SG does not currently have access to land or a growing space. We typically visit our beloved community’s garden spaces for communion and learning on the land. However, we are working on changing this.
Can I become a member?
We are a relationship-based collective and movement partner, not a formal coalition or incorporated non-profit organization. There is not currently a process for applying for membership for this reason.
How can I become involved?
Follow us on IG and sign up for our listserv (of fellow Black and Brown folks) to keep an eye out for engagement opportunities. Our external programming will be shared through our networks. You can sign up for our listserv by sending us your email to request an invitation.
